It's funny how things were when we were kids and how they've changed. A few weeks ago my mom was talking about some of the movies I watched as a kid over and over and over and over to the point of insanity for everyone else around. Two of my favorites were Big Business and Troop Beverly Hills. I literally watched them every. single. day.
Talking about them totally sparked an interest to see if they were available on DVD. Thanks to my trusty pal eBay, I found them! I ordered them both right away and couldn't wait to watch them.
Can I just be honest and say that I've totally doubted my mom's mothering skills since watching Big Business? I can't believe she let me watch that movie! In her defense though I was so naive and sheltered I had no clue what most of it was. For instance, I had no idea Graham and Chuck were gay....lol. I think I watched that movie so much because I've always loved Bette Midler and Bette Midler as a twin?? HELLO! You have to love that. I also strongly connected with Sadie Ratliff. Like her, I have always known I was just born in the wrong place and was destined to live in New York. Although I loved both Sadies in the movie, my favorite line was delivered by Rose. When everyone seemed to know just a little too much about her for comfort she announced "I have on my Tuesday panties, but I guess you know that too!" I still say this line sometimes just because it makes me laugh.
Troop Beverly Hills did not disappoint though. My mom won some points back with this one. I remember as a kid wanting a dress like the one Pia Zadora wore in the movie SO BAD! Oh how I wanted that dress, not to mention almost everything that Phyllis Nefler wore. I can honestly say I might even love this movie even more as an adult than I did as a child. It won't be long before I watch it again.
